The Effectiveness of Online Classes amid Covid-19 Pandemic: a Study on the Remote Primary schools of Bangladesh

Abstract

This paper explores the effectiveness of online classes in remote primary schools. Taking Bangladeshi Covid-19 situation into account it has tried to document the challenges and possibilities of online teaching-learning scenarios in remote primary schools. In order to do this, adapting the Qualitative method with a particular focus on the perspective of teachers, students and parents, data has been collected through interviews and a little observation of online classes. Therefore, data has shown that both teachers and students suffer from economic instability, poor internet connection, lack of technological equipment and skills though a few possibilities have been drawn out of online classes regarding the enhancement of digital skills and alternative ways of assessing and continuing classes during any instabilities of Bangladesh. Finally, based on the thematic approach of analysing data, the researcher has explored that, despite a number of challenges, remote primary schools' online classes may have a significant impact in the future, but they cannot completely replace or serve as a substitute for in-person instruction.
